DUBAI: The Sharjah Human Resources Department (SHRD) has declared the official Eid Al Fitr holiday for public sector employees, confirming time off from 1 to 3 Shawwal 1446 AH.

If Ramadan completes 30 days, the 30th day will also be a holiday, extending the break further.

Work will resume on 4 Shawwal 1446 AH, except for shift-based employees.

Possible 6-day weekend

With Eid Al Fitr dates subject to Moon sighting, employees may enjoy a five-day or six-day holiday. If Eid falls on Sunday, March 30, the holiday will run from Friday, March 28, to Tuesday, April 1.

If it begins Monday, March 31, the break will last until Wednesday, April 2.

Three-day weekend advantage

Sharjah government employees already benefit from a four-day workweek, implemented in 2022. This means those working in the emirate enjoy Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays off, extending holiday breaks further.

The UAE's Federal Authority for Government Human Resources had earlier announced similar Eid holidays for public sector employees nationwide.
